Including:

Q: What do you use in Myotherapy?

A: My favourite tools include:

Energetically:

I am a hugger- this is how I read the body. This is how I get in tuned with the person before treating. Please let me know if you prefer no hugs.

Physical self:

Glass Cups with fire in clinic or silicone cups for mobile work.

Gua Sha or Scrapper, one made from stainless steel and the other is out of jade which is used for Gua Sha or scrapping. This is one of my favourite tools to loosen the fascia and promote blood flow to specific muscles, plus it feels delicious!

Needles, The needles used with treatments are one time use acupuncture needles. My manual dry needling are based on trigger points or muscle tension. This differs to acupuncture as the therapy is based off meridian lines.

SoulNar! What is that?

SoulNar is a great modality that gives the mind, body and soul permission to go within. Using the crystal sound bowl and the 528 chime assists the mind to go deep into a parasympathetic state to help you heal from within. This is great for those who want to let go or find that state of being to relax.

Q: Cupping! Why does it leave marks and how long does it last?

A: Cupping is a wonderful modality that adds to your experience. When I use fire in my glass cups it created a vacuum effect in which causes the a light suction sensation on the skin. This will tend to leave a bruising mark which in most cases goes away after 1-7 days.

Some rare occasions a client will mark for up to two weeks, this will depend on what medications they are on, life style, diet or if they have a lot of toxins in their body.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Myotherapy modalities may cause some mild discomfort during treatment. You may even experience temporary sensitivity post treatment.

With constant checking in with the client that the pressures applied and techniques used (Fire cupping, Gua Sha, Deep tissue massage) are creating an comfortable experience.

Pain is relative to the person and  We will have a chat about your work week and see what types of stressors you were under in order to ensure your comfort and nothing is done without your consent or acknowledgement.

Q: Can I train or workout post-treatment?

A: Absolutely! I recommend to train 24 hours after treatment. Base your decision to train post treatment off how you feel. If you are feeling sore in a specific spot that was previously treated, avoid training that muscle group and train another.

Q: Can I train before I get treated?

A: Definitely! Having a treatment straight after training is definitely safe, your muscles will be warmed up and ready for treatment.

Q: What type of qualifications do you have as a Myotherapist?

A: I hold an Adv. diploma in Myotherapy, Cert lV in massage and Adv. Diploma of Remedial of massage.

Q: Can I use Myotherapy when I am seeing a Chiro, Osteo, physio or another therapist?

A: Absolutely! We all work together to serve you, prevent any injuries and de-stress you.

Q: How frequently do I need to see a Myotherapist?

A: I tell my clients to base their decision on their time and money. Depending on your work week, stressors, and life in general you want to base your treatments off how we can fit into your schedule and your finances. We are here to help and prevent injuries. Why not fill your cup first?

Ideally when you first get injured or feel tension- its best to see a Myotherapist frequently in the beginning once the acute phase has finished then slowly spread out your treatments to once a fortnight or once every three weeks.
